The best time to start learning about retirement planning is when you start your first job. For most of us, that didn’t happen. So, if retirement is in your focus now, here are some tips about where to learn retirement planning.

  1. Books about retirement planning- there have been many books written about how to take care of your money when planning your retirement. Scroll thru Amazon.com, and you’ll find hundreds of titles. The trick to finding a book that can help you is to do a bit of background research on the author, and see if there is any financial proof that his methods work. You might also be able to get a good recommendation from friends or family about books that have helped them learn about retirement planning.
  2. Your Human Resources department at work will have all the details on retirement plans and pensions that you can access thru your job. Make an appointment to meet with them, and ask them any questions you might have. They may also have financial planners that they recommend. This can save you both time and money. Many financial planners will offer discounted services to employees of certain companies. It is wise to find out if this service is available to you thru your job.
  3. The Internet has a wealth of information to help you learn retirement planning. Most financial institutions have full service websites that offer free tools and advice to help you formulate a plan for retirement. They can help you build a budget, see where your money goes, and find extra money to save. If you decide to sign on for full service retirement planning, there will be an added cost to use the most advanced online tools and get help from a certified financial planner.

These three tips will get you started learning retirement planning. Don’t put it off until it’s too late!
